1. BESTA Shelf Unit
Most popular for its use in modern spaces, the BESTA shelf unit serves as a versatile storage system. I personally use BESTA as an entry table and again as a media stand in my living room. What’s great about this case good is that it can be easily transformed to fit your space, whether that’s eclectic, modern, or traditional. The BESTA unit is simple without being boring as it allows the choice of attaching legs, doors and drawers, or mounting it onto the wall. And as a bonus you can even purchase glass at the store to protect the top—hey, no scratches!
2. FARGRIK 18-Piece Dinnerware Set
Whenever I have friends over for dinner I am always asked the same question: Wait, these are from IKEA?! The FARGRIK 18-piece dinnerware set from IKEA has been my best investment yet. The stoneware set comes with 6 bowls, 6 dinner plates, and 6 side plates; and get this—each is still intact. These are the most durable dishes I’ve ever owned. They are scratch resistant, look pretty similar to those found at crate and barrel, and have a timeless, modern feel to them. I’d recommend this set to just about anyone.
3. RAST 3-Drawer Chest
This guy should win an award for the most hacks. For only $34.00 the RAST 3-drawer chest is the easiest, least expensive way to create your own masterpiece. This case good is known for its makeover history. You can find DIYs all over Pinterest featuring faux campaign nightstands, furniture overlays, and Dorothy Draper chests. And lets not forget this dresser is made of solid pinewood; not only will your RAST look one of a kind, it will also have good bones!
4. MALM Desk with Pull-out Panel
I’ve been on the hunt for an inexpensive parsons desk for years—yes, years. My prayers were finally answered when I came across a gem on my latest trip to IKEA. The MALM desk is a fraction of the price of West Elm’s Parsons Desk, and even lends a larger table surface with an extension of 11 inches. Need even more space? The desk comes with a cute pull-out side table for extra room.
5. EXPEDIT Shelving Unit
Last but not least, we come to the bittersweet topic of the EXPEDIT. This item doesn’t need much of an introduction, since it’s made a name for itself as a furniture icon of the 21st century. But yes, it’s true; the forever-loved item is being discontinued. With this model leaving the market, vinyl lovers and book styling specialists are losing their minds. But not many of us are focusing on the reality here: IKEA's EXPEDIT isn’t really going anywhere. Instead, it’s getting a sustainable facelift and a name change. With its new features of thinner sides and safe rounded edges, let’s welcome the new KALLAX to IKEA.
